Directions From The South

There are three main ways to get to the site from the South, the M1, the A1 and the M11. If you come up the M1 then you should follow the directions from the West. Otherwise follow the directions below:

From the M11

  1. You want to leave at junction 13 which is signposted for Madingley Park and Ride. when you leave the exit ramp you want to turn left and head for Bedford and the A428.
  2. This bit of map from multimap shows you where you want to be heading. After getting onto the A428 you'll pass a series of roundabouts, keep going. When you hit the new dual carriageway watch out for the signs for the new Cambourne Junction. Take the Cambourne slip road, at the roundabout at the top of the slip road turn right over the A428 and at the next roundabout take the Elsworth exit to the left.
  3. Drive down the twisty road in to the village of Elsworth. At the T-Junction in Elsworth turn left towards Papworth Everard.
  4. You will pass a small wood on your left followed by some large farm buildings and a couple of houses. The entrance to the site is a concrete track just after a gentle left hand bend.
  5. The launch area is along the concrete track which makes several very sharp left and right turns. Please drive with caution. We use a patch of grass by the concrete track for launching. As you approach please slow down and wait to be waved on by any Range Safety Officer or Marshall. They will be wearing a hi-vis Jerkin.

From the A1

  1. You want to leave the A1 just before St. Neots and head along the A428 towards Cambridge. This bit of map from multimap shows you where you want to be going.
  2. Keep going until you arrive at the Caxton Gibbet Roundabout turn left on to the A1198 towards Papworth Everard. Follow the new bypass around Papworth.
  3. At the roundabout at the end of the bypass you want to go straight on onto the B1040. This bit of map from multimap is a close up of Papworth showing where you the junction.
  4. Follow the B1040 for about half a mile and then turn right onto the Rogues Lane towards the village of Elsworth.
  5. You drive for about a mile up a gentle rise at the top of which the road bears to the right. The entrance to the site is a concrete track just after the bend on the right hand side. If you pass a couple of houses and some large farm buildings on your right followed by a small wood (not to be confused by some buildings of a similar description before the gentle rise) then you have gone too far..
